ALTER BRIDGE Singer Says Challenges Made Band Better

October 16, 2007

The Pulse of Radio reports: ALTER BRIDGE issued its second album, titled "Blackbird", last Tuesday (October 9),after a three-year period in which it changed labels, changed management, and had to overcome comparisons to CREED, the former band of three of its members. Singer Myles Kennedy told The Pulse of Radio that all the challenges made ALTER BRIDGE a better group and "Blackbird" a better album. "It was a really challenging circumstance," he said. "You know, obviously there was a certain expectation given their past, and there were comparisons that were inevitable. All of the things we went through with business and people's personal lives, struggles and whatnot, we definitely bonded and grew to respect and trust one another. And I think that that lent itself creatively to when we started working on 'Blackbird'."

Kennedy used to sing in the MAYFIELD FOUR, while guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips were all previously in CREED.

"Blackbird" follows up the band's 2004 debut, "One Day Remains", and features the single "Rise Today".

ALTER BRIDGE is currently on the road with GODSMACK offshoot act ANOTHER ANIMAL. The tour pulls into New York City on Tuesday night (October 16).
